What is wrong with this man?

He drives 6 hours to spend Thanksgiving weekend with his fiance and her family. (She has her own place tho.) He doesn't talk much at all, no snuggling, no hand holding, argues against anything and everything his fiance says. Watches football. Disappears at the the check-outs of stores and even leaves his articles for her to pay for. is out of the question, because even tho they have been together for almost 3 years, he has decided that since he has started going to church again, would be a sin. Ok this man is 45 years old. Has a great income (has been a Marine for 18 years) and sells real estate on the side. She is pretty, has a great job, and treats him very well. So anybody have any idea whats up with Mr. Wonderful?
