Triumph XC 800 (off road version) gear ratios versus Triumph 800 (road version)?

All of the 2nd hand info I can find say that there is no difference. That's one of the major gripes people have (ADV bike that's doing 30mph at 4,000rom? ~ not good). It's something I was interested in, but not as an ADV bike. I need "granny" speed in first because I ride like a Granny.. :D
